Changes to GCSEs and A levels for September still not finalised

Many of the new GCSE and A level exams scheduled for introduction in September 2016 are not ready.

Exams regulator Ofqual has said that just 66 out of 156 new courses are have been approved for use, reports BBC News.

Schools have a matter of months to ensure their teachers are briefed about the multiple changes to courses they will need to be teaching in the new academic year.

Mary Bousted, the General Secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, said of the delay: “How are teachers supposed to prepare for teaching these new qualifications in September when they haven’t had the opportunity to plan their curricula and develop materials based on the new specifications?”
