Education database being created in Tanzania

The Tanzanian government is in the process of creating a national education database.

The database is intended to increase efficiency in how students are provided with educational services. It will contain information about each pupil in the country and record this as they progress from nursery, through primary and secondary schools.

Tanzania’s Minister for Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training, Professor Joyce Ndalichako, welcomed the introduction of the new system.

“This is one of its kind, we have never had such a database that will provide us with information on the pupils and students from all the regions, including enabling us to trace those who transferred or dropped out,” she said.
