Ahead of the exam season in Egypt, the education ministry is proposing a strict measure to protect against the exam paper leaks that occurred last year.
It has proposed that the military will help keep the papers secure and will also print the test papers as well as assist in blocking mobile phone signals to examination rooms.
Egypt’s national exam is called “Thanaweya Amma” and will begin on 4th June 2017. The scores gained in the exams determine whether students can attend university and study for a degree.
Test papers for the 2016 exam appeared on Facebook, despite a 2015 ruling that states that such an act could mean one year in prison and a fine of up to 50,000 Egyptian pounds for the perpetrator.
