New curriculum in the pipeline for Kenyan schools

Educators in Kenya are setting out the timetable to introduce the new school curriculum.

An entirely new curriculum is currently being developed – which will then be tested during a pilot phase. The Education Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i, has said that this must begin in 2017, ahead of the goal of introducing the curriculum across the country in January 2018.

The new learning programme will cover nursery, primary and secondary age ranges. It is an extremely important change for Kenyan education.

“Our positioning of the country depends on the positioning of the education system,” Matiang’i said.
