
The number of Chinese students returning home after overseas study has increased, says China’s MoE.
In 2012, the number of returning students was 272,000 which is 86,700 more than in 2011. China actively encourages students to return after graduating to avoid a brain drain; a situation many countries experience.
The upturn in returnees is being attributed to China’s economy which is growing as fast as other countries’ are retracting. Since 2008, whilst foreign economies were starting to struggle, the Chinese government offered many preferential policies to allow their students an easy and fruitful return.
