The average broadband speed across the UK fell in the final three months of 2011, says a new report.
The findings, from Akamai, said that a similar thing occurred in eight of the top ten countries for broadband delivery across the world.
In the UK, the average download speed fell to 4.9 Mbps from the 5.1Mbps that had been delivered in the previous quarter.
The report could not explain the reason for the drop, but instead suggested factors that may have had an effect, such as peak network usage rates between 7 and 9pm.
