Turkey provides education for 330,000 Syrian refugee students


The Turkish Education Minister has criticised European politicians’ claims on education Syrian refugees.

Speaking this week at the Council of Europe Conference of Education Minsters, Nabi Avcı said that, collectively, European countries were educating 300,000 refugee children – while Turkey alone is providing education for 330,000.

The Education Minster said that Turkey aims to be educating 450,000 Syrian students by the end of this year.

The outcome of not educating these young people would be “disastrous for the entire continent,” he said.
